We absolutely love our new kitchen island!...it is gorgeous!..that being said, it took approximately 3 hours to put it together.The directions were very good....all the screws, nuts, bolts etc. we're packaged neatly in a plastic shrink....all the drawers and components were marked for easy identification.It came in 2 large packages that were packed very well...nothing was scratched or damaged.One thing we noticed after assembling was that you have to air it out for a day or so...I assume .the paint fumes didn't have time to dissipate while being so well wrapped.The cutting board top scratches easily, but maybe that's normal.Overall, we are very satisfied and would recommend this kitchen island to anyone.

Purchased this island.it was delivered in two boxes on two different days. It went together fairly easily and in about 2 1/2 hours. It is a nice solid piece. However, the top is not true butcher block as is claimed. don't be fooled.we sanded it down to stain it little darker as it is to light. It doesn't sand, it is some kind of veneer top. It won't absorb stain or the mineral oil that you are supposed to use to treat true butcher block.We will be buying a different top to replace this one.Not worth this money. If you are looking for a look alike top then this is for you.

Love It!

Very easy to assemble and doesn't look like it was assembled once completed. The finish matched the existing kitchen cabinets perfectly. At first I thought towel holders on each end was a little much but I use one end for kitchen towels and the other for paper towel rolls. I love that the cabinets and drawers can be accessed from either side. The interior shelving is also strong enough to support all my pots and pans. I did replace the dull looking knobs with brass ones to match the existing kitchen. Now it looks like it was built at the same time as the kitchen cabinets. Price was also around $100 cheaper than other places that I looked.

Love It!

Disappointed

From the front, which is what you see in the picture, it looks great, but from the back, there are silver metal screws up against a black backing which looks cheap. The wheel locks leave something to be desired and putting it together was a huge headache. Considering the price, you really can't find something like this without paying more, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Instead of thinking I got a deal on this, I feel I got what I paid for.

This item does not have a finished side on one side yet it is called an island. It says some assembly required but it is a build your own island from many many pieces situation. They package multiple types of screw in one bag with letters on the bag but you can't tell which letter coordinates with which screw. The wheels do not lock but they are supposed to, so if you lean against the island you and the island go flying across the kitchen. The drawers are more shallow than the depth of the island which is not that deep. Plastic drawer guides. The pulls are so cheap they hardly weigh anything but are made of metal. The top is a smooth not brushed stainless so it shows every fingerprint. I do not recommend this item at all.

Happy with my purchase!

I just moved into a new home and quickly realized that the kitchen didn't have enough cabinet space for canned goods, pasta, etc. This pantry has addressed my storage needs. When the box arrived, it had quite a bit of damage, but the pantry pieces were so well packed that none of the pieces were damaged. It took me about 4 hours to put the pantry together by myself, but it would've gone much faster with 2 people. The pantry is quite heavy when it's assembled so you either need help to move it into position or get some of those furniture sliders to move it by yourself. I was disappointed to see that the back of the pantry had 4 sections of very thin wood instead of thick wood like the rest of the unit, but by the time I put all of the wood screws in place, the pantry felt very sturdy and solid.Other buyers on here wrote that they had problems with the doors closing properly - this only happens if the unit itself is not level with the floor. After making sure that the cabinet was level, I had no problems with the doors shutting properly. I am very happy with my purchase and I love that Cymax offered free shipping. This is a well-made product that looks very nice in my new kitchen. I was so impressed with the quality of this pantry that I put in shelf liners to protect the shelves from wear and tear. This pantry is a great investment!

Exactly as I expected

I love this pantry. I have been looking at it for a year and finally decided to just get it. It is quite heavy and very well made. I can't believe the reviews saying that it is flimsy. Nothing at all cheap about the one I got.I did have a problem with the top right door not wanting to stay closed. I called the manufacturer and they sent me two of the doors that I was having a problem with. They told me to keep them all. One of the doors they sent me works perfectly so now all of the doors close and stay closed.I did order the pantry off the Amazon site, but it actually came from Cymax and I believe it was packed and shipped by the manufacturer. Wonderful packing and no chance for anything to be scratched or damaged unless the box had been dropped.I put the whole thing together in a couple hours by myself, but I did have to have my son-in-law come over to set the top part on because it was too heavy for me to lift it up as high as it needed to go.Quite pleased with the purchase and the product!

I bought this from a different vendor than Amazon. The cabinet came very well packed and had no damage. It looks as good in person as it does in the picture. It only took me about 12 hours to put it together. I had to take each hinge off and flatten it out. It took several attempts to get the hinges flat at the correct spot. The hinges are all rolled in a way that makes the doors not want to stay closed. Each and every door would pop right open because of the bind that the rolled hinges put on them. This is because the roll part of the hinge started before reaching the edge of the door and frame. Flattening each hinge made the doors close ok. So, if you have a few hours and a vise you too can put this cabinet together. The other alternative would be to go to the hardware store and buy all new hinges that aren't rolled pin design.

The Mahogany finish is absolutely beautiful. This item is very well made and looks more expensive than what I paid for it. I just wish it came in a length size in between this one and the 52 inch one. That would have been perfect, but my daughter loves it and it serves its purpose.

This island is a huge win. It looks good, is good quality, and was even easy to assemble thanks to clear instructions and well-made parts. Everyone who sees it assumes it's just part of our kitchen from the beginning.I just wish there were more shelves inside, but nothing that a trip to the Container Store can't fix.

Great addition to my kitchen

I love the way the kitchen island looks now that it's complete, but potential buyers should be aware that it is completely disassembled. Though the instructions say you only need manual flat head and phillips screwdrivers, I found that I didn't have enough strength to get all the screws tight enough. I had to borrow my neighbor's power screwdriver. Also, a small additional wrench is included in the materials, but the quality was not good and it was of no use before the project was completed (back to my neighbor's tool shed!). The instructions are easy to follow, but again, please be aware that it probably will take more time to complete than the ad indicates. If you don't have a lot of woodworking skills, you may want to consider another product. It took me a full weekend, including help from my woodworker brother, neighbor, and a couple calls to the manufacturer.

This island is a huge win. It looks good, is good quality, and was even easy to assemble thanks to clear instructions and well-made parts. Everyone who sees it assumes it's just part of our kitchen from the beginning.I just wish there were more shelves inside, but nothing that a trip to the Container Store can't fix.

Great, Economical Island

I purchased this island after an exhaustive search that included hours of reading customer reviews of this and other similarly-priced islands. In the end, this one cost slightly more than some of the others, but it truly is a quality piece.Assembly was simple and accomplished in less than an hour with basic tools. All of the pieces fit together easily and the directions were about as clear and simple as can be.In its finished form, this is a stout island that should last for many years under normal use. It truly feels like a piece of furniture, compared to some of the others that I looked at that are primarily constructed of pressed wood & look cheap and flimsy.I do have to echo the sentiments of other reviewers that have stated that the finish on the top of this island looks like it could be easily scratched. A butcher block top would be much better, but would likely increase the cost as well. Our solution was to order a piece of glass from a local company to cover the top of the island. The glass will add around $45 to our purchase price, but will protect the top from moisture, scratches and other potential damage for a minimal investment.If you are looking for a kitchen island in the $300-400 range, trust me, this is the one.

Beautiful and Functional

We are extremely picky, and this exceeded every expectation. It is solid, beautiful and doesn't move or wobble when you work on it. I did the dough roll test, and it passed with flying colors. The dimensions are 36" high x 42" long x 24" wide, and there are two shevles inside the doors large enough to put mixing bowls and serveware.

Great Island!

My husband and I bought this island about 3 weeks ago. It took a week to deliver. When we got it, all the parts inside were labeled, and it was fairly easy to assemble (it took about 2 hours). I don't want a portable island, so we decided to not put the wheels on it. It is very sturdy, and it looks GREAT in my kitchen! I love the extra space it gives me to assemble meals and store my pots and pans. I spent a lot of time trying to decide on which island to buy, and I am not at all disappointed with my choice. This is a GREAT product for the price!!!

This was a great purchase. The assembly was a little difficult, but overall nothing worse than Ikea. Everything was labeled which made it easy. It is great quality. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a little extra space in the kitchen.

didn't go together properly

Took over 3 hours for me to put "together" by myself. "Together" is in quotes because the drawer support beam in the front didn't fit properly and neither did the drawers. Since I couldn't imagine dissembling it and packing it back up (70 pounds) and sending it back, I tore out the drawer supports and left it with just two shelves, no drawers. I am actually happy with it now; I can fit items on the top shelf that I wouldn't be able to with the drawers. I only hope that the top is not so heavy that it will eventually sink in the middle without the drawer supports to help support it. Also I could not get the casters on. The instructions could be a little more detailed. Even though I'm happy with it, I could only give it two stars because of the aforementioned problems. The drawers probably added to the cost quite a bit and so that money was wasted.

Great Island!
