The kitchen island is beautiful in the picture. Unfortunately it does not look the same "in person". The back panels are very obviously cardboard. This is not good because the back of the island is the first part that people see when they walk into my kitchen. Putting it together was a nightmare! The screws that were sent with the island were too short and wouldn't engage. I called the company and they said they would send longer screws. It took a week to receive them and they were the same length as the screws that came with it. I had to go to the hardware store to buy longer screws - a 12 mile round trip. The hex nuts fell out as fast as I could put them in and tighten them. I've assembled many pieces of furniture that use these and have not had any trouble with them. So it's not that I don't know how to install them. Because of this I couldn't fasten the side parts to the back part and make them stay. I finally had to prop each side up so I could continue to assemble the island. When I started putting in the screws the wood cracked in several places. It was unstable and I wasn't sure it would stay together when I turned it rightside up. It was much more stable than I thought it might be and with the top on it stands solidly. Once it was assembled and standing rightside up one side was not flush with the back so there is a narrow but obvious gap between the side and back and no matter how many different ways I've tried I can't get it to fit properly. Which means that the drawer on that side cannot be pushed in all the way without it going off the track. It took me over 9 hours to assemble it. Even at a leisurely pace it shouldn't have taken more than a couple of hours to assemble it. It looks cheap and the quality of the materials is inferior, definitely not worth the money I paid for it.

This furniture looks like expensive furniture in appearance, but as some others have stated, the drawers are quite flimsy and don't feel very secure. I use this on my deck, so functionality (as I rarely use my deck) isn't a big issue for me. I have serious doubts as to how well this would stand up to daily kitchen use. For my application, price considered, it looks very nice and serves it's purpose.

THE ISLAND WAS EVERYTHING I EXPECTED AND WANTED. IT'S GREAT. IT ADDS THAT ADDITIONAL BEAUTY TO MY KITCHEN AS WELL AS THE CONVIENCE OF USE THAT I NEEDED.
