By Richard P. Willard
I bought this headboard for a spare bedroom. It looked great in the picture, and after assembly, it looks just as great in person! The complete headboard arrived in 2 boxes. One box contains the main part of the headboard and weight about 25 pounds. The second box is about 40 pounds and contains the legs and cross beam that stretches across the legs near the bottom. The second box also has the necessary hardware to assemble the unit. Assembly took about 45 minutes. It probably would have taken 30 minutes but one of the pre-drilled holes was a bit too close to the wood and I could only turn the securing nut about 1/4 turn at a time. The hardware also includes a small wrench that fits the nuts, but I found that my own 13 mm wrench was a better tool to use. Assembly is simple and there are included instructions. The average person should not have any trouble putting this together. Some may find it easier if there are two people because the assembled headboard is heavy and it could be hard for some to maneuver on their ownThe headboard is made of solid wood; no particle board parts or pieces. It does not include any hardware to attach the headboard to the bed frame, so you need to provide that on your own. Depending upon the width of your headboard and which of the three frame attaching points you use, you will need to get 2.5 inch or 4 inch bolts with nuts. The three mounting points are approximately 52.5 inches apart, 58.5 inches apart, and 62 inches apart. The 62 inch wide holes are the ones that will need the 4 inch bolts for the frame since they go through the widest part of the legs. The headboard is listed as 53.5 inches tall, which is true when measuring at the finials. The very center of the headboard is 52 inches tall.It is solid, heavy, and very attractive. I think it is a really good piece of furniture. I honestly could not be more pleased with the way it looks. I know a few reviewers have complained that the mounting holes for the frame do not line up with their bed frames. I didn't have that issue. My queen frame fits perfectly at the 58.5 inch mounting points. I don't think my frame is special, it is just a medium-priced frame I bought when I got the mattress and box spring. The headboard is made in Indonesia. It comes very well packed and protected with thick styrofoam sheets in heavy cardboard boxes. Mine was delivered by standard FedEx package delivery.

ASINB0095G008M This 1 hour project will probably last 2 weeks! Don't buy this headboard and expect it to fit your standard bed frame. The headboard is 65" wide, while the mounting holes in the bed frame are 59" apart. If my wife hadn't discovered "adapter plates", the headboard would have been unuseable.Customer service at Home Style insisted that the bed was designed to fit a standard frame. It doesn't! Not only is the bolt spacing wrong, the 5/16 threaded inserts in the bed posts that are supposed to receive the bolts that connect frame to headboard are too big! The Sears standard queen frame uses 1/4" bolts. No bolts came with the $300+ headboard. When I asked customer service about this, the reply was the bolts only came with the complete bed.It wasn't until I returned from the hardware store with 5/16 bolts that it was determined they wouldn't fit thru the slots in the bed frame. The rest of the afternoon, and several Dremel grinding stones were spent filing the slots in the bedframe to accept the 5/16 bolts. When I called customer service a 2nd time, at 4:55PM, there was no answer.A 5/16" by 18 TPI tap was needed to clean up several of the threads. The studs supplied were a loose fit in the rest of the metal inserts. While attractive, the Home Styles Marco Island queen/full headboard is not the quality product its price led us to expect.

This is a great headboard, but it does not come with hardware to attach it to a king bed stand. Though I called them and they told me it would work with my heavy duty king metal bed stand and had the bolts and attachment, it did not. We ended up getting Sleepys to sell us the adapter, Modi plate, but alas, the notch on the mahoghany head rails/legs was too small for the adapter. Okay, we ended up having to saw into it and make the notch longer. Once that was done and we bought bolts to fit at Home Depot, we thought we had it solved. Not! It turns out that the bolt to attach the Modi plates were one inch longer in the bed rail than on the left side. Off to Home Depot again. The manufacturing facility in Indonesia is not very precise. Ah well, after all day, we managed to get it all attached and the next time we pull it out we're going to also attach it to the wall for more stability. But it IS very pretty. :)
