I've had the white island with the stainless steel top assembled in my kitchen for just over a week now.The island shipped in three different boxes. One box included the core of the island, cabinet doors, drawers and casters for the bottom if you need this to sit on wheels. The second box included the four feet that can be used instead of the wheels (which I installed) and the third box consists of only the stainless steel top. Box one and three were double boxes, which were annoying to open but necessary to protect everything inside. The island was in great shape overall, without any damage to the wood at all. The stainless top does have a significant 8" scuff mark on one side but I expect the entire top will be pretty beaten up soon anyway, so it's unlikely I'll contact the seller for a new one. [Update 11/2012: The top is scuffed and weathered. I don't notice the scuff mark anymore.]Assembly was relatively easy and only took about 3.5 hours with a power drill and the included hex tool. Since assembly, the island is quite heavy yet it does have a slight side-to-side wobble you'll notice if you bump it or if you're drying or buffing the top surface. [Update 11/2012: After about 10 months in my kitchen, the towel rank is loose and even if I tighten it, it loosens up again within a day or so. Obviously bad design. I may silicone those screw anchors to keep them from loosening][Update 11/2012: The underside of the stainless top is razer sharp and my 2 year old daughter has cut herself on it twice. The first time, over a year ago, she wasn't old enough to tell me what cut her but this time she walked me over and pointed out the razer sharp under edge that will take a piece out of you if you slide your hand along the under edge.. I will be running a bead of calk along the under edge of this top where the metal ends to keep her from chopping her finger off. I took off two stars from my rating due to this careless design.]For clarification, while the entire island is described as being 52" long in the product description, the top surface itself is 18" deep and 42" long. On one side, there's a towel rack that sticks out about 6"+ which seems unnecessarily long and I've repeatedly bumped into it accidentally because it juts out so far. On the other side, there's an odd tray with another towel rack below that's too low and hidden for you to ever put a towel on it.

We received this island as a gift and couldn't be happier! Assembly takes some time (no more than 2 hours) and patience but totally worth it! All parts were clearly labeled and packaged very well. We found it helpful to lay out the pieces in alpha order (takes a few min, but kept assembly smooth and efficient). Follow directions step by step and you will have no problem at all. Did have an issue with the side of one drawer but we improvised for now until manufacturer sends replacement. All in all we are very pleased and can't wait to use the island as a buffet for Christmas Eve.

I am very happy with the overall quality of the finished product! It was packed well and protected for shipment - so all pieces were in flawless condition when unpacked from the boxes. The pieces are made of a very solid wood and the pieces fit together nicely. One complaint is that the directions were difficult to follow - because of this it took about 2.5 hours to put together.
