Catskill Craftsmen has become the nation's leading manufacturer of ready-to-assemble domestic hardwood kitchen islands, carts, and work-centers. Catskill Craftsmen manufactured items are made from naturally self-sustaining, non-endangered North American hardwoods, primarily Northern Yellow Birch. Lumber is purchased from area sawmills, then dried, manufactured, and packaged on site. All sawdust, shavings and waste materials generated during the manufacturing process is converted into wood pellet fuel, and used to heat homes. This cart is a classic catskill design with butcher block top. It comes with a large drawer and a spice rack and towel bar. It has adjustable interior shelves and has nickel plated hardware. This cart is made from sustainably harvested domestic hardwood, is ready to assemble and is made in the USA.

Perfect size, plenty of storage and workspace on top, upper drawer is a bit flimsy. It looks just like picture. I might stain it sometime to match my cabinets better. It was moderately difficult to put together. All in all I would recommend this butcher block workcenter.

The oil. No where is there anything that indicates that the wood is oiled, not finished in polyurethane. Really? Granted, it doesn't say it is finished in polyurethane, but it is the first piece of assembly required furniture I've run into that wasn't.The problem with the oil is two-fold -- it was put on pretty heavy, to the point that there was enough excess to really soak the shipping boxes. And according to their own literature included on the shipment, polyurethane applied over the oil (which is soaked into the wood) will simply crack and peel off within a short amount of time. We have to use Danish Oil, which, unlike polyurethane, may or may not give me the finish I wanted. It went together with relative ease, in just over an hour. There are a couple of places that could have used two screws, instead of a pin for alignment and just one screw. The bottom is not fastened in; rather, it is installed like the shelf -- it's just sitting on a handful of shelf pins, which means the bottom is not part of the structure of the cabinet, and can actually slide about a bit down there. I'm sure I'll be adding something to it to make it part of the structure of the cabinet. It's almost like the bottom was an afterthought. And the top is held on with four tiny screws and brackets. Could use more strength there. For the price, it's okay, but it could be better.

Beautiful Island... well constructed... very sturdy.I was concerned with a couple reviews indicating how long it would take to assemble, however, my wife and I put it together in 5 hours (including a break to have lunch). Received with no damage, no missing parts, everything assembled fine. There is a slight drag on the drawer if we open it with both handles but we are assuming we did something slightly off on the drawer guide installation, but if we open it with just one handle it opens perfectly, so no problem. Holds a lot of weight, rolls nicely on on hardwood floor. Manufacturer suggests oiling cabinet, so we do need to get some oil... also the top could use a light sanding (as also suggested by manufacturer). Received quickly, looks great.
