This item arrived promptly after ordering. I was surprised that assembly was required, as this is not stated anywhere in the description (perhaps the description will be amended after this comment is posted). I was tempted to send it back as a result, but since I've assembled many pieces of furniture in the past, I figured it made sense to assemble this one. Unfortunately, that turned out to be impossible. The cam locks cracked, the predrilled holes were too large for the screws provided (I had to use my own screws instead, but I didn't have any cam locks at home), and two wood panels cracked on assembly. This item is not up to the level of IKEA in quality. I threw it out piece by piece in the trash. At this point I will either go with another manufacturer (not that we really know who manufactures this one, anyway) or bite the bullet and purchase a pre-assembled piece from a quality store.

We hardly have any counters space in our kitchen. We have a nice size eat in kitchen that we never eat in so we decided to get something more practical to replace the small table that was just being used as storage. This was extremely tedious to put together (there are a lot of pieces). My husband did a little bit a day and it took him 3-4 days to finish it up. I'm sure if he had all day to do it, he would've finished it but when you work and have three small children, you just don't have time. I was worried it was going to be too low but I'm 5'5 and it's just a bit shorter then my kitchen counter and it's the perfect height to work on. We got the dark wood one with the stainless steel top. It looks great in my kitchen. The stainless top is nice but you can see constant smudge marks on it when your up close. I probably would've gone with the marble top for less upkeep but the marble color didn't fit my kitchen as well as the stainless. All in all, it's a really attractive, sturdy piece, has an adequate amount of storage and definitely perfect for extra counter space.
