By Amanda Evers
I just sent an email to the company directly concerning this horrible piece of DIY furniture, so I figured rather than re-hash, I'd just paste that email here. The only GOOD thing about this piece is that it wasn't supposed to ship until July 25, and I received it yesterday (July 27). Oh, and the only other plus is that I paid $180 instead of the $195 it's listing for now."Yesterday I received my Oak Hill/Brook Microwave Cabinet that I ordered through Amazon.com. I have spent the day putting it together, and let me tell you, I am very much less than impressed. I have put together a lot of this type of DIY furniture, from a lot of different companies, and I've never had more problems. I thought it would be easier to just list the problems (actually, I thought it would be easier to list what ISN'T wrong, but...)1. The edges of the entire piece look as if they were never painted or finished in any way.2. The bottom doors definitely needing a coat of paint once I finish putting this thing together (if I finish putting this thing together) - they look like some kid put them together in high school shop class and slapped a single coat of paint on them. Actually, that's insulting to high school kids in shop class.3. There are chunks taken out of the edges of some of the pieces, including parts that are in open view.4. The cams don't lock parts flush against each other.5. The screws that work together with the cams are AWFUL - I have never had such a problem with these in my life. They strip with the slightest pressure, and add to the problem of parts not fitting flush against each other. In fact, I just attached the cherry finished microwave shelf, and the one side won't lie flush AT ALL. The cams won't draw the top to the bottom side section that it rests on - I can easily fit my fingertip between the two parts, and it's in the front where everyone can see it, and where little fingers can get hurt.6. The top doors have a good half-inch or more space between them instead of meeting even slightly flush against each other.7. The screws used to put the doors on the upper section never tighten - which will eventually lead to the doors coming off and me having no way to reattach them. One of the doors doesn't attach tightly to the side and wobbles, no matter how hard I try to tighten the screws - oh, yeah, because they don't tighten.8. The top section wobbles like a drunk sorority girl on stilettos.9. The bottom section wobbles like her even more drunk sorority sisters. I am afraid to even put my microwave on it, and I am NOT putting this thing in my kitchen where my children can be hurt by it."So, yeah...at this point, I'm not even sure what to do with this thing anymore. It's more than halfway together, and I don't want it in my house another minute. I received it with free shipping through Prime, and informed Home Source Industries that I REFUSE to pay a penny to ship it back to them. I have no idea what their response will be - but now I have a whole bunch of cheap furniture pieces all over my dining room, and have dinner guests coming tomorrow. Guess I'll have to shove as much of it as I can back in the box and attempt to hide the parts that are already together.UPDATE: Emails to the company bounced back, and their site is "temporarily unavailable." However, I contacted Amazon and they are kind enough to pay for my return shipping so I can send the piece of crap back and get a refund. Thank you Amazon - what wonderful customer service! If I could give this thing NO stars, I would. Beware.

This "microwave cart" is one of the cheapest and poorly constructed items I have ever seen. The finish that is painted on is chipped around the edges. The upper glass doors do not meet so there's about a half-inch gap between the two that the magnet shows through. The drawers do not sit properly on the glides. The material used throughout is of a very low-grade material. This item is something that doesn't even belong in a third-world country!!

I should have read the reviews. The hardware is crappy, the packaging is terrible and a few pieces arrived damaged. A few of the screw heads snapped off while I was tightening them and even the directions sucked. Overall, this product sucks for the price. It wouldn't hurt as much if I would have paid half of what I spent. It also took me over 3 hours to assemble and I'm relatively mechanically inclined.
