Catskill Craftsmen has become the nation's leading manufacturer of ready-to-assemble domestic hardwood kitchen islands, carts, and work-centers. Catskill Craftsmen manufactured items are made from naturally self-sustaining, non-endangered North American hardwoods, primarily Northern Yellow Birch. Lumber is purchased from area sawmills, then dried, manufactured, and packaged on site. All sawdust, shavings and waste materials generated during the manufacturing process is converted into wood pellet fuel, and used to heat homes. This cart comes with a drop leaf that doubles the work surface and has a very large drawer. It comes with a spice rack and a towel bar. The interior shelves are adjustable and the wheels are locking caster. The hardware is nickel plated and the wood is oiled finished. It is made from sustainably harvested domestic hardwood, is ready to assemble and is made in the USA.

My wife and I were looking to replace a fixed counter top along one wall of our kitchen. We also wanted an island that could be used when cooking for guests, but our kitchen is too small. This cabinet fits the bill. We removed the fixed counter top and this takes its place. When cooking large meals, it rolls closer to our food prep area and provides more counter space. When the meal is ready, it rolls into the dining room and becomes a serving cart. Some things that used to take up counter space are now stored inside the cart. The instructions are good and easy to follow. I put the cart together in about an hour. However, I would recommend having someone to help, certain steps are hard to do with just two hands. I finished the cabinet with three coats of polyurethane. I gave the cart 4 stars because one of the casters will fall out if you lift the end up. This is a minor detail, but it means it is not perfect.

I just finished assembling this island and am so very pleased. Right out of the box it was obvious that the pieces were well-made. The instructions were clear, plus there is a video on the Catskill website that helped with any questions that came along. It took some time to put it together, but that is expected with better-made pieces. This is NOT like box-store furniture.There was one small piece that needed to be replaced due to a flaw. All that took was a quick call to Catskll and they are sending out the piece right away - no questions asked. The customer service is amazing!I look forward to many years of using this island for baking, in addition to being a serving station for entertaining.

So this is what we're missing sending all of our manufacturing overseas...these guys are the real deal. Clear, well written instructions, beautifully machined parts that went together right. Only two dings...the towel rack bar was a bit larger than the wooden holder holes, and the casters' teeth don't stay bit into the wood, so they can fall out. That's it, tho.I put this together myself in several hours and really appreciated the fact that is was made so well...it didn't put me into a bad mood.I just can't believe how much nice wood is in this...it's not all particle board. The cutting board top is flawless and beautiful, I put a nice coating of butcher block oil on it and it really comes alive.Great design and execution...keep it up.
